Daniel Thomas Coleman

Daniel Thomas Coleman, 51, of Louisville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, after a lengthy illness. Daniel was a member of Uttingertown Baptist Church for 40+ years. Born 2nd in a set of triplets in Detroit, Michigan, Daniel grew up in the Louisville and Lexington areas. Daniel attended Wheeler Elementary School, and Carrithers Middle School, graduated from Fern Creek High School, and attended Murray State University. During high school, he played baseball and helped Fern Creek reached the State Tournament during his senior year. He was one of the fastest runners on the Fern Creek High School baseball team and was called upon many times to pinch run for other players. After college, Daniel followed in his father's footsteps and obtained his CDL to become a professional over-the-road truck driver. As an over-the-road truck driver, Dan always prided himself on safe and on-time deliveries. He managed to travel to almost every state in the U.S. and Canada. Many awards and accolades were presented to him in his almost 30 years of driving for his safe and efficient driving record. You could always depend on him. He had the memory of a steel trap when it came to recollecting directions to places he traveled. Many truck drivers and family members called him on a daily basis to get directions to their destinations. As a man who loved to talk and interact with others, if he happened to be in or near the city limits of family members or friends, he would give them a call to check on them. He always had a story to tell. He could always remember details that most people would have easily forgotten. This earned him the nickname of “Info Man” at an early age. His jovial personality and big smile made him hard not to love. He had a great sense of humor and always loved to tease. All was done in love. Daniel was a man who loved sports, video games, wrestling, collecting M&M character dispensers, and anything dealing with autos and trucks. Even though he spent a lot of time on the road, he would alwaysmake it a point to be in town for the Truck Show and Carl Casper’s Auto Show. He would enjoy taking his niece and nephews to these shows with him. His favorite sports teams were the Los Angeles Lakers, Cincinnati Bengals, St. Louis Cardinals, and, of course, the Louisville Cardinals. He also made it a point to collect the newest M&M character dispenser each year and had quite a collection in his possession. Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Sylvester Coleman; his maternal grandparents, David and Princess Spencer, and his paternal grandparents, Cora Coleman, Mattie Finley, and Etheridge Darby, along with several aunts, uncles, great aunts and great uncles. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Brenda Spencer Coleman; his brothers, Darryl Coleman, and David P. Coleman (Sonia); his grandmother, Rev. Clara Darby; his niece, Danielle Coleman; his nephews Trae’ Powers and Terrell Powers; his great nephew Daylon Newsome; his uncle, David P. Spencer (Marion); his aunt, Phyllis Spencer Alcorn (James); a brother cousin, Phillip Spencer (Amber); several other cousins and special friends, along with a host of other relatives.
