George Marshall Biggerstaff

George Marshall Biggerstaff, Magistrate-District 3, master barber, DJ, para-educator at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, lifelong resident of Lexington, KY, passed away unexpectedly on August 26, 2023, at the age of 43. George battled a prolonged illness for many years. He was a recent recipient of a kidney and pancreas transplant. We would like to express our complete gratitude to Jewish Hospital-Trager Transplant Center, in Louisville, KY for the passionate care received. George was born in Lexington, KY on August 24, 1980, son of Marilyn Biggerstaff and of the late George Fogle. He is survived by his son, Georgen; two sisters, Andria Biggerstaff and Shannon Thornton; nephew, Jakobe Biggerstaff; and niece, Justice Biggerstaff; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. George is a graduate of Henry Clay High School, class of 1999, where he played varsity football. As a para-educator at Paul Laurence Dunbar, George's passion was helping children from all walks of life. He took pride in his position and building a bond with the staff and students. He cared for the students and wanted them to be the absolute best they could be. He truly loved his bulldog family. George's greatest joy was being a father to his son, Georgen. He went over and beyond to make sure he was present in everything Georgen was involved in. He always wanted Georgen to have a good life and worked hard daily to give him the world. He shared a special relationship with his son. He was his best friend. Regardless of how George was feeling, spending time with his son always put a smile on his face. His son made life worth living and was George's primary focus. Georgen, your father loved you dearly and will always be with you in spirit. George had a kind and genuine soul. He was laid back and reserved. He was witty and enjoyed putting a smile on someone's face. He wanted all to succeed in life. Despite his health problems, he always had a positive attitude and never complained. On days where he may have felt down, his ultimate goal was uplifting someone else. His mission was to educate others who may have been experiencing the same health issues. He shared videos of his health journey, progress made, and setbacks, for all to see. He was dedicated to helping anyone in need. He enjoyed attending athletic events of his son's, nephew, and niece. It brought him a sense of peace being in the stadium or sitting courtside. He was one of their biggest supporters and was always there to cheer them on. He was a great son. His mother, Marilyn, was there every step of the way and wanted nothing but to see her son get better. He greatly appreciated her efforts. He was a great brother. George was extremely close with his sister, Andria. There were times when George wouldn't say much but that was never the case when he spoke to his sister. He loved his family dearly and we loved him. Our hearts are deeply saddened by the loss of George. We find peace in the joy he brought to our lives and others. He will forever be missed with memories to last a lifetime.
