Thomas Cary Roach

Thomas Cary Roach 80 passed from this world on Saturday Morning March 26, 2022 at the Saint Joseph Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Boyle County on April 19,1941 to the union of his Parents, the late Mary Smothers Roach and Sanford Thomas Roach. Thomas was educated in the Fayette County Public School System being a 1959 graduate of the Old Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. Thomas was called of God to Serve Him and at a young age was Baptized into the membership of the First Baptist Church under the Pastorate of the Late Pastor; Rev. Dr. H.L. Nutter. Thomas was very active in his Church and his responsibilities of Church membership. He sang in the Church Choir, the Male Chorus and worked on various Committees. He was very active at Church services and activities until his health began to fail. He worked at Spindletop for many years as a waiter and later becoming Concierge. knowing the importance of education Tommy enrolled into the Central State College in Wilberforce, Ohio and then transferred to University of Kentucky and in 1971 he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education with a Minor in Speech Therapy. He was hired in the Fayette County Public Schools where he taught Special Education and Speech Therapy. After teaching several years he retired from Teaching and was hired at the Kentucky Cabinet for Human Resources and was a Registered Sanitarian/ Environmental Health Specialist. After 26 years of service he retired from the State. He loved what he did and did it with such pride and was well respected among his peers. On September 30, 11967 he married the love of his life, the former Willie Sandra Beatrice Meyers. They had a love that transitioned time. He loved his beloved and loved him. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Sandra Myers Roach, his Mother; Mrs. Mary Smothers Roach. his Father; the legendary Basketball Coach; Coach Sanford Thomas Roach, and his Stepmother; Mrs. Lettie Roach. He was preceded in death by his Wife of 55 years Sandra Myers Roach, his Mother; Mrs. Mary Smothers Roach, his Father; the legendary Basketball Coach; Coach Sanford Thomas Roach, and his Stepmother; Mrs. Lettie Roach. He is survived by his Son, Ashley Devlin Roach, of San Francisco, Calif. One Grandson; Sequoia Christian. Of California. One Sister; Mrs. Sandra Roach Cole, of Fayetteville, N.C. one Nephew; Kent McLaurin, Alexandria, Va. Two Cousins; Rev. Cary (Jewel) Owsley of Lexington, Ky. And Patsy (Robert) Turner of Louisville, Kentucky. A very Special Caregiver, Friend, and Cousin; Benjamin Brown. A loving Church Family and many friends who will miss him.
