Edith Jane Robinson

Edith Jane Robinson was born to the late Martin E. Robinson and Beatrice Robinson Craig in Georgetown, KY. Edith attended Garth, Ed Davis, and graduated from Georgetown High School. After graduation, she briefly attended Villa Madonna with a desire to be an RN. She then went to Appalachian School for Practical Nursing where she graduated as an LPN. She worked at St. Joseph Hospital and after that, worked at the V.A. Hospital. She retired from the V.A. after 33 years of employment in 1996. She had an education mentor, Anne Greene, who worked at both hospitals. She said although there were times she wanted to, Anne would never let her quit. Edith accepted Christ at an early age at Zion Baptist Church in Georgetown. Upon moving to Lexington, she united with Main Street Baptist Church, Pastor R.H. Johnson. “Aunt Jane”, as she was affectionately known to family and some at the Main House, had been a faithful member at Main Street Baptist Church since November 12, 1972. She sang in several choirs, worked on the original Health Committee, was part of the Grace Coleman Missionary Circle, BACCA member, and she worked on the Culinary Committee for the “Friends in Need” and funeral meals. She also worked with the Children’s Ministry with her cousin, Rhoda Robinson, and Helen Coleman. Edith (also known as “Cookie”) enjoyed cooking, sewing and playing the piano. She made several dresses for her nieces when they were little girls. She also had a “shoe box Christmas tradition” with them. She left many other fond memories of special times together. Edith went to be with the Lord on July 28, 2026. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her older brother, Alonza Robinson. Left to cherish her memory are her 4 nieces and 1 nephew: Lavern Blythe, Ronza (Kevin) Frye- McDonough, Georgia, Lisa (Lesley) Moore, Edyth (Jeff) Dabney and Marcus (Shamyra) Robinson- Dallas, Texas; 1 great niece, Kaeden Robinson; 7 great nephews: Joseph Frye, Daniel (Kristin) Moore, Steven Moore, Matthew Moore, Joshua Taylor, Samuel Blythe, Dominique Blythe, married; 3 great-great nieces, 1 great-great nephew, 8 uncles, 2 aunts, and 31 cousins. She also left behind her loving church. The family gratefully, acknowledges and deeply appreciates the prayers, love and support extended to them during our hours of bereavement. May God continue to bless all of you.
