Theodore N. Prentice

Theodore N. Prentice was born on March 27, 1954 to the late Lucille Overstreet and Theodore Roosevelt Prentice . Affectionately known to his family and friends as ‘Doll’, ‘Daddy T’, and ‘Ted’, he transitioned from this life to his eternal home on Friday, March 13, 2026 . Having accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age, he was a man of deep faith and boundless energy . Doll’s life was a testament to the power of service, mentorship, and music . A Servant’s Heart and a Master’s Ear Theodore was a dedicated Deacon at Cedar Top Missionary Baptist Church in Wilmore, Kentucky . You could also find him amongst the Brotherhood Choir of the church leading worship . His devotion to the church went far beyond the pews; he was the first to step up for many projects the building required inside and out . Theodore also humbly served on the Locust Grove Cemetery Board as President, advocating for many improvements to the grounds . His true passion, however, was found in the booth . As the church’s sound engineer, he ensured the Word of God and songs of praise were heard clearly, a craft he honed to a professional level . His talent for sound was so well respected that he was sought out by legendary artists, including Dennis Edwards of The Temptations Revue and Martha and The Vandellas Revue, to manage the sound for one of their local performances . Whether he was behind the turntables as a popular local DJ or coordinating the audio for the Annual African American Ball, he knew how to bring people together through the power of a song . A Champion for Youth and Community Theodore’s influence was felt deeply on the sidelines and in the gym . As the President of Youth Basketball and a dedicated coach for both football and baseball, he didn’t just teach plays, he mentored character . After years of hard work in the manufacturing industry with Link-Belt and Donaldson Co ., Theodore transitioned into a role that allowed him to give back directly to his neighbors . Alongside his beloved wife, Marion, he owned and operated a childcare business . For them, this wasn’t just a career, it was a mission . He used his business as a tool to support his community, not only by providing affordable care to children, but also providing employment to many whose love for children matched his own
